🌼 Gilding the Lily
This piece is my heart on canvas.
“Gilding the Lily” began with a vintage pillowcase from my childhood—one that lived at my great-grandmother’s house, where I spent long, joyful days with cousins, playing, dreaming, and sleeping in a swirl of florals. I’ve loved bright, colorful fabric ever since. Even as a child, I wanted to trace the flowers, color them in, make them louder. More me.
Painting this as an adult felt like letting that little girl finally go wild. And I did. I poured joy, vulnerability, longing, and softness into every inch of this piece.
It’s nostalgic. Feminine. Exposed. And it’s the first time I’ve made something that felt this personal.
I call it “Gilding the Lily” because the original fabric was already beautiful—and I added to it. Not because it needed more, but because I couldn’t help but love it bigger.

This is one of the most vulnerable pieces I’ve ever released. It’s part of a quiet shift happening in my work—toward softness, toward beauty without explanation, toward letting the past hold hands with the present.
